The Life of an American Pig
04.21.08

music: Snow Patrol - "You Could Be Happy"
mood: Disgusted

Here is a poem I just wrote. Please don't take it. I'm still working on improving it...

Just days ago I was born into this world
So small and so pink
And a tail with a twirl.

I was so afraid to open my eyes
I haven't seen the sunlight yet
I wonder if they hear my cries.

Today they grabbed me and held me in the air
Suddenly my tail and ears were gone
It hurt. I screamed... but no one cared.

I wish I could frolic in the fields
Instead I'm rotting away in here
My mother is dead now; these horrors are real.

The pig next to me has an oozing sore
Her neighbor tried to eat her the other day
But they cut out his teeth 2 weeks before.

I'm older now and I know pain
I live in my own feces, dirty and infected
But these humans have way too much to gain.

Tonight we were hung up by our feet
The knife sliced deep into my throat
I know they can never have too much to eat.

The blood splattered everywhere, even onto his shirt
I flailed around and looked into his face
How does he grin while watching us hurt?

I want to be dead now, but there's one more trick
The ground below me flies away
The boiling water hits me and I feel so sick

I'm gone now, a life forgotten
If only I had one day to see the flowers
Maybe then this wouldn't be so rotten.

Today a young boy only 10 years old
Enjoys a ham sandwich with my remains
He doesn't know because he was never told.

I can't blame you for eating me
You think it's natural, but I just wish you could see
That all a pig wants is to be free.

Every time you eat, you decide
To pay for the torture behind those walls
Aren't you thankful you're not inside?

P.S. School is going blah, getting good grades but not enjoying my miserable campus. I want to be somewhere exciting where people care about being involved in the same issues as me. I also hate being in my room because my roommate frustrates me to no end. Also, I got my rainbow tattoo covered by a purple rose. Also, my birthday is soon and I'm excited. I'm going skating with Josh.

Promoting awareness of animal suffering.
04.07.08

music: None
mood: Disappointed

Please visit this website and watch the video:

http://www.meat.org

The goal of videos such as this is simply to share information and hopefully, open people's eyes to the realities of factory farming.

Those who deny the torture of factory farming are simply perpetuating the ignorance that has led to this problem. Those who support what happens in the video above do so not by directly killing, but by putting money into it, as consumers.

There are many alternatives to the meat from these "factory farms," or killing factories. Transitioning to veganism is the most humane path to escaping the factory farm system. After knowing what happens, how can we refuse to change?

For every year a person decides not to eat meat, about 90-95 farm animals are never tortured, never killed, never forced to live in the dark, never to see the sunlight.

Why do humans treat animals in this manner? Is it because it's not of our own species? Is it because it's a cow, a pig... but what about a dog? Who draws the line? Pigs actually have the intelligence of a toddler, but most people will not recognize their sentience. Just because they do not live with us in our households does not mean they do not feel.

Ignorance is NOT bliss in the case of factory farming. People must learn about these processes; we are obligated to spread this message to everyone we know. Animals can't speak or fight for themselves when placed in these conditions - we have to be their voice. People choose to ignore the issue because they don't have to see the atrocities every day. But how can we perpetuate something when we know the cruelty inherent within it?

Thank you. Please pass this on to your friends. Every step in spreading videos like this helps to promote awareness, and that is all we need to spur change and stop factory farming.

"If factory farms had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian." -Paul McCartney

Make money!
04.01.08

music: Blue October - "Independently Happy"
mood: Blah

I'm interrupting the normal context of my posts to advertise a little. I found this website that's like Paypal, like a banking service. But because it's new, they are offering a free 25 dollars credited to your account if you join before April 15. Also, for every friend you refer, you get 10 dollars, for up to 50 friends.

I know we all like free money, especially in this capitalistic, recession-ridden economy perpetuated by terrible administrations in the government! So please click the link to join below to help me get referrals, and then you can start gaining up to 500 dollars with your own referrals (before April 15th). Thank you!

Refer A Friend using Revolution Money Exchange

P.S. Here is a news article about the site so you can learn about its legitimacy and its acceptance by several major businesses already. The basic idea is to become a good competitor to PayPal, and to do this they are trying to gain popularity by giving away money - very simple concept!
