Julytree.Org
Julytree.org was registered with
StartLogic on January 4, 2008. I created it by writing my HTML in Notepad, editing graphics with
Adobe Photoshop, and uploading files through
WS_FTP. All of the photos used in layouts were taken by me using the Canon PhotoShot A520 or my newer
Panasonic Lumix TZ4, unless otherwise noted. Blogging is done through CGI with
Greymatter. The Gallery is maintained using
Coppermine and MySQL.
Julytree.org was not my first domain - in fact, I had another one for six years beginning in 2002 - but this is my fresh start. In July 2008, I validated the site with the
W3C Markup Validation Service - my first time using valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional.
Name...The name July Tree was NOT derived from a song by the same name but rather from a nickname I came up with for my love Joshua. One day I began calling him "Joshua Tree" after the U2 album (and a real plant, as well), and it stuck. Our relationship began in July of 2007, so my Joshua Tree is also my July Tree in a sense.... therefore, Julytree.org was born.

Layouts...
- Version 1 (January-June 2008): Featured a photograph I took of a swimming area in Hawaii in August 2007, edited a bit with Photoshop. I was looking through all of the pictures I had of trees, and this one seemed to be the closest to those you'd actually see in July (most were winter pictures!).

- Version 2: Created with Photoshop and div layers. It features a photo I took of a flower in Costa Rica in January 2008. I also used a mouse over effect for the navigation menu.
